Cello instead of tour bus

She cycles from the source of the Ruhr to its mouth. 240 kilometres, 15 concerts, a cello in a trailer. From 17 to 24 May, cellist Katja Zakotnik will follow the Ruhr cycle path – without a car, without a tour bus, with her bicycle trailer „Martha“ in tow.
On Sunday, 18 May, she will stop at the Bergkloster Bestwig at 7:00 PM. This is ideal: the Bergkloster is located 200 metres from the Ruhrtalradweg – right at the start of her route, shortly after the source.

Katja Zakotnik, born in Slovenia in 1979, studied cello in Hanover, Cremona and the USA. She is known for her hosted theme concerts and unusual concert formats. For each location on her tour, she compiles the programme herself. The Rheinpfalz wrote about her playing: „She plays very concentratedly, with an expressive, full tone, dreamlike intonation accuracy, and full of passion.“ Katja Zakotnik
Those who wish to cycle along are invited to join for sections of the route or the entire journey. Those who merely wish to listen are equally welcome. Cello cycling
