Bible storyteller training
„Cinema for head and heart“
The Sisters of St. Maria Magdalena Postel are inviting you to a Bible storytelling night at the Bergkloster Bestwig from 8pm to 10pm. Stories from the Holy Scripture will be recited in four locations in the Dreifaltigkeitskirche.
This evening marks the conclusion of the ninth Bible storyteller training course at the Bergkloster Bestwig monastery. In an unusual way, the participants will be interpreting their biblical stories over two hours in various locations within the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Trinity Church). Course facilitator Sister Maria Ignatia Langela explains: „We tell stories freely according to the Holy Scriptures. It's like cinema in the mind and heart.“ The storytellers adopt unusual perspectives in the process. They retell the stories as if they were experiencing them firsthand.
Training Manager Pastor Dirk Schliephake explained: „We want people to think: I really must read these exciting stories for myself again.“ He added that the lively presentation brings the events and themes into the present day. Thus, the art of storytelling forms the bridge from one world to another – „to those who lived, believed, and hoped before us.“ This was the usual way of passing on scripture texts in the early church.
Entry to the Bible Story Night is free. Adults are invited, as well as children aged ten and upwards. During the interval, after about an hour, bread, water, juice, and wine will be served.
