Ensemble unterwegs plays in Oelinghausen Abbey

On Sunday, 10 May 2026, Oelinghausen Monastery is inviting you to the „Concert under the Linden Tree – Happy Songs for Mother's Day“. The concert begins at 3 p.m. In case of bad weather, the ensemble will perform in the church.

The afternoon's performance is by four female musicians from „ensemble unterwegs“. They will be performing with soprano and string trio: Barbara Schachtner (vocals), Annette Walther (violin), Friederike Imhorst (viola) and Anna Betzl-Reitmeier (cello). The programme includes cheerful Mother's Day songs, folk songs and singalong songs.

Since 2009, the four female musicians have been combining concert work with their wanderlust. Once a year, they spend a few days walking across the countryside without money or mobile phones. With sleeping bags, mats and instruments in their luggage, they look for concert venues in rural areas and exchange their songs for food and lodging. In 2024, a WDR camera team accompanied a tour through Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt for the series „Menschen hautnah“. In 2025, the journey led through the Arnsberg region. During this trip, the musicians came to Oelinghausen and played for the sisters and their guests there. This encounter has now led to the reunion on 10th May.

After the concert, there will be coffee, waffles, and cake. Admission is free, donations are welcome. The event is organised by the Sisters of St. Mary Magdalene Postel in collaboration with the parish of St. Petri in Hüsten.
