Bestwig mountain monastery
Cultural event
It is tradition that a cultural program is offered on Good Friday evening at the mountain monastery. The Aramaean Maria Kaplan (* 1977) was born in a small village between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. Despite the flight of her family, she remained deeply rooted in the spirituality of her ancestors. Maria Kaplan will offer Aramaean sacred song, tell her own story of transformation, and in the end sing the words of the Father, Mother, and Son in the language of Jesus and together with us the Aramaean chants.
Ms. Kaplan (*1977) was born in a small village between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. Despite fleeing due to the persecution of the Christian minority, she remained deeply connected to the roots of her Aramaean heritage. Ms. Kaplan recounts her journey from the investment sector to singing her ancestors’ songs and sings healing Aramaean chants. A highlight of the evening will be the father-mother prayer in the language of Jesus. Visitors are invited to join in simple Aramaean prayers with Mary.
